Shift and rev problems with 2002 2.7 intrepid?

I just replaced the waterpump myself and it was a chore. I had to pull the valve covers to get at the cam sprokets to loosen the timing chain to get at the waterpump. After I was all done i took it out for a spin it won't shift under heavy acceleration it will just chuggs and won't rev over 2400rpm . Does anyone know why it would do that.? Maybe the cam sensor? The tranny fluid is at the right level.
